Yep – that just about sums it up.

As kids we used to play ‘pitch and putt’ at the local councli park – kind of like a poor man’s golf – the course was always full of screaming kids and unruly teenagers. I a play left handed, and there were never any left handed clubs. As a result I am ambidextrous at golf – I can play equally badly left or right handed.

It says everything that this was more enjoyable than any trip round a ‘real’ golf course.

I played golf once – there were 5 of us on a course with a 4 player limit (player limits – why?) so we got told off by the groundskeeper… of course we then split into 2 groups, and held all the members up even more, which pleased us no end, because we were all shit. I think the “winner” over 9 holes had a very respectable 63….
